Ultimate Life Support

"The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course"

The Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course is an intensive course that uses a blended learning strategy that includes pre-course online learning modules followed by a one-day, face-to-face advanced resuscitation programme designed for experienced clinicians who want to take their resuscitation skills beyond standard life support algorithms.

Traditional life support courses teach you what to do.

ULS teaches you when, why, and how to make the right decision when the patient doesn't follow the textbook.

Designed specifically for senior clinicians involved in the care of critically ill and rapidly deteriorating patients, ULS focuses on the clinical judgement, decision-making, leadership, and practical skills required to manage complex emergencies where algorithms alone are not enough.

Through highly interactive case discussions, realistic simulations, and practical workshops, you'll develop the confidence to make better decisions under pressure and lead your team effectively during high-stakes resuscitations.

Why Ultimate Life Support?

Courses such as ALS, EPALS, APLS, and ATLS provide an excellent foundation for managing critically ill patients and remain essential components of modern resuscitation training.

However, real-life emergencies rarely follow textbook scenarios.

Patients present with multiple pathologies, incomplete information, diagnostic uncertainty, conflicting priorities, and rapidly changing physiology. In these situations, simply following an algorithm may not be enough.

Clinicians are increasingly expected to interpret emerging evidence, understand evolving treatment strategies, navigate controversial areas of practice, and individualise care for the patient in front of them.

Ultimate Life Support is the course for clinicians who have already learnt the algorithm, and now want to master the judgement behind them.

To maximise learning and hands-on practice, ULS is limited to just 12 participants, with an exceptional 1 instructor for every 3 candidates.

Unlike many resuscitation courses, ULS deliberately limits attendance to just 12 participants as we believe advanced resuscitation skills are best developed through personalised coaching, repeated hands-on practice, and meaningful discussion, not by sitting in a crowded lecture theatre

What Makes ULS Different?

Unlike traditional life support courses, ULS focuses on the clinical decisions that experienced clinicians face every day, particularly when there is no single algorithmic answer.

The course goes beyond established protocols to explore the latest evidence, emerging therapies, and areas of ongoing debate in resuscitation medicine, helping participants understand not only what to do, but why they are doing it.

"Course Objectives"

By the end of the Ultimate Life Support (ULS™) Course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise and manage complex resuscitation scenarios, including refractory VF, recurrent VF, electrical storm, LVAD cardiac arrest, CPVT, complex toxicological emergencies, and traumatic cardiac arrest.
  • Apply the latest evidence and emerging best practice in advanced resuscitation.
  • Make confident clinical decisions when standard resuscitation algorithms are no longer sufficient.
  • Critically evaluate controversial and evolving treatment strategies and apply them appropriately.
  • Lead resuscitation teams effectively using advanced decision-making, human factors, and crisis resource management principles.
  • Translate cutting-edge evidence into practical bedside decisions that improve patient outcomes.

"ULS is designed to prepare clinicians for the patients they remember, not the ones that follow the algorithm"

Who is ULS course for?

ULS is designed for experienced clinicians involved in the assessment and management of critically ill and rapidly deteriorating patients, including:

  • Emergency Medicine consultants & senior registrars.
  • Intensive Care Physicians & senior Anaesthetists.
  • Acute Physicians.
  • Pre-hospital Resuscitationists.

Class size is limited to 12 participants to maintain a maximum instructor-to-candidate ratio of 1:3 and ensure an outstanding learning experience.

Priority is given to clinicians who have successfully completed ALS, EPALS, APLS, ATLS, or an equivalent advanced life support course.
